Not a lot has happened this month. Mostly been working. Also nearly completely forgot about art fight (╥‸╥) but its ok, I managed to do at least one mass attack, which was my goal!
I got my first speeding ticket too. (⑉´•˶˶̫˶ •`⑉) My brother and I were heading back up from Savannah after a quick visit to help my friend move in to my apartment, and we didnt make it too far before I got pulled over. I won't lie, I definitely was speeding but man that rattled me LOL. The officer was real nice about it though.
I've also been busy trying to plan a road trip down the east coast (from NJ to GA, so about 12 hours!) to take with my friends, because I've been really wanting to show them Savannah! The city is really pretty and I'm glad I get to go to school there. Plus this will be the first big vacation I've ever taken with my friends, without my parents' help or company (also the first non-family vacation I'll be taking as an adult). I had to book a hotel for the first time, which was a tad nervewracking but it was pretty simple. I think I was just overcomplicating it in my head lol. I'm super excited for it!! It's about three weeks out right now, and i think it will be a lot of fun!!
We're going to stop in Washington DC to visit the Natural History Musuem, which will be fun (/s) for me because i will have to find parking (rip). The musuem itself is really cool though! I visited that and the National Gallery during a field trip my freshman year when I went to school in Philadelphia. Next we're gonna drive completely thru Virginia, stop at a few small places in NC, and then stay at a hotel for the night. Normally, I would do this drive all in one day but since we're stopping a lot along the way and taking our time, the only other driver in the group and I will be more tired than usual.
(i have no idea why the navigation here is completely avoiding Baltimore LOL)
If any of my American friends have suggestions for cheesy tourist attractions or cool things to stop and see along I-95 south, definitely shoot me an email or comment before August 16th! I would really love to see your ideas ♡
Today my mom and brothers and I went blueberry picking at a local farm (part of why i love living in south jersey - there's so many family-run farms and they all grow super good produce!!) We managed to get a big flat pack of blueberries plus two quart containers. I've been given the responsibility of searching for recipes to make with everything we picked 0-0 the only thing that came to mind immediately was blueberry ice cream (we had made it years ago after picking blueberries!) but theyre delicious on their own too.
art fight has started too! I have a few ideas this year and I also prepared ahead of time by making a trello board with all the characters I wanted to attack this year. I did it to avoid the usual crashing and site lag that art fight experiences the first few days but surprisingly I didn't notice that this year?? good for them.
I have also decided to take it upon myself to clean up the area behind our shed where we have our pets' graves. For the longest time it was overgrown and covered in sticks and leaves (sorry, kitties...) but given the fact that we were out there recently... I thought it was time to actually make it look nice, for Chip and for Calvin and Hobbes. I went out and bought a few solar garden lights to put down to light up the area a bit, but the problem with that is that its pretty shady and I don't know how much they'll actually charge back there. (╥‸╥) They've been out for a few days and I havent checked on them since (i'm actually going to go out after i finish writing this) so I could be worried about nothing but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was also looking at maybe getting a nice little bench to put back there or maybe some paver stones? I'm still brainstorming atm but i think it could look nice. We have a bunch of spare lumber from our old swingset/jungle gym (custom built by my awesome dad) that i was thinking of using to make a sort of "frame" or fencing to sort of line the area, if that makes any sense.
This is something i'm actually pretty excited to do, so I'll definitely update with some pictures when that project is completed!
